sqsicksmiley Rotary chair torture chamber

I had an ENG ( piece of cake compared to the rotary chair) and the torture rotary chair today. I was so afraid of the ENG, that was nothing compared to being spun fast like on amusement park rides in the dark. I was so nauseaus I had to take breaks, have them stop a few times etc.

Why do all the sites say you are spun slowl? This was not the case for me today. They did slowly, but not until they did fast a few times in both directions. I am still trying to recover. My stomach was so queasy it was not funny.

At least its over. I hope they can tell me definitely if something is wrong or not and not be inconclusive.

Hi scamelo
I'm so glad both of these test are over with for you. I never had the rotary chair test so thanks for letting us know that they did indeed spin you faster then what you thought they were going too. I'm going to make note of that and change the information I have regarding this on the dizzy lounge website. I am picturing myself in a dark room spinning as you were and its making me sick just thinking about it. It had to be awful for you.

When will you get the results? Fingers crossed for you that after gong thru all of that you will get some answers.

Jill

Hi Jill, thanks for your reply.

The Dr. where I went, made up the software and has a BS in Aerospace Engineering and computer science, plus is a Neurologist. His resume says he was a pilot. I wonder if he ramped things up a bit because of his background?

I am hoping that a few others here who had this time will let me know if its normal to be spun fast, or if he had a side agenda looking for future astronauts!! LOL!!

I am supposed to get the results Tuesday.

I'm 100% damaged so I couldn't feel the spinning. The only thing I could feel was the hairs on my arms standing up in the wind so I would say they were spinning me pretty fast.

I forgot to mention in my last post that my testing was at the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Lab so don't really know if this was a normal test.

When they spun me slowly ( the audiologist performing the test told me what was happening each step of the way) I could barely feel I was spinning, really hardly not at all, so I don't know if you did not feel it due to ears, or if you were not spun that fast. Hard to tell

Also, I have to say I have some friends that can go on any ride, spinning or not and love it and don't feel a thing. The audiologist said day before she had an 85 year old man who came out saying that was fun. I could never do spinning in circles, even years ago when I had on inner ear issues. My hubby has no inner ear issues and he can do roller coasters no problem, but nothing spinning or he gets sick. So I don't know if there is a correlation or not.
